In 2013, while attending the Burningman Festival, I had my first encounter with a drone in flight. It was a transformative moment that ignited my passion for becoming a drone pilot. Witnessing a dusty hippie donning Fatshark goggles and taking flight fueled my desire to experience that sensation myself. Upon returning home, I wasted no time and washed away seven days of festival memories, promptly purchasing my first drone, a DJI Phantom 2.
To justify the expense of my newfound hobby, I established Top Shots Media, LLC, offering drone services for real estate, weddings, construction, and various commercial applications. Over time, our company evolved into a comprehensive video production and event services provider. In August of 2016, I proudly obtained my Part 107 license, making me one of the pioneering individuals in Colorado and the entire country to achieve this milestone.
For years, I had a lingering desire to explore the world of FPV (First Person View) flying. It wasn't until late March of 2021 that I finally took the plunge and acquired the necessary gear. Prior to my inaugural acro flight, I dedicated approximately 25 hours to honing my skills in a simulator. Drawing upon my past flying experiences, I quickly adapted and found myself yearning to have started this journey sooner.
Since then, I have gained proficiency with a diverse range of FPV quadcopters. I view each type of drone as a specialized tool, essential for different tasks and assignments. My extensive background in client video production and editing has proven invaluable in embarking on this new adventure. I derive great joy from tinkering, creating, and building, and nothing beats the satisfaction of witnessing the excitement of my clients when all the pieces come together to deliver a final product.
